About the opportunity
Praxis Studios is hiring a thoughtful and technically strong Video Editor to turn raw footage into polished films for corporate communication, documentaries, commercials, events, social media and original productions. The right person understands story, pacing, sound and visual continuity, works carefully with feedback and can deliver dependable edits across different formats and deadlines.
Responsibilities
- Review briefs, scripts, interview transcripts and raw footage before developing a clear editing approach.
- Organize footage, audio, graphics, project files and exports using consistent naming and storage standards.
- Edit corporate films, documentaries, commercials, event highlights, interviews, training videos and social content.
- Build strong narrative flow through thoughtful shot selection, pacing, structure and use of supporting visuals.
- Perform multicamera synchronization, dialogue editing, basic audio cleanup, music placement and sound balancing.
- Complete colour correction and prepare projects for advanced colour grading where required.
- Create and integrate titles, subtitles, lower thirds, simple motion graphics and approved brand elements.
- Produce platform specific versions for broadcast, websites, presentations, YouTube and social media.
- Work closely with producers, directors, cinematographers and clients throughout review and approval rounds.
- Apply feedback accurately while protecting story quality, continuity and technical standards.
- Run quality control checks for spelling, audio, colour, framing, codecs, aspect ratio and export settings.
- Archive completed projects and source materials so future revisions can be handled efficiently.
- Maintain realistic edit schedules and communicate early when footage, feedback or technical issues may affect delivery.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of professional video editing experience with a strong and current showreel.
- Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve and practical familiarity with After Effects.
- Strong understanding of storytelling, continuity, pacing, shot selection and audience attention.
- Good knowledge of codecs, frame rates, resolutions, aspect ratios, proxy workflows and delivery specifications.
- Ability to clean and balance dialogue, music and effects for professional online delivery.
- Competence in colour correction and consistent shot matching.
- Excellent file organization, version control and attention to detail.
- Ability to receive direction, explain creative choices and respond professionally to feedback.
- Capacity to manage several edits without missing agreed deadlines.
- Availability to work onsite in Lagos and support occasional production or urgent delivery schedules.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience editing corporate documentaries, interviews, commercials or event productions.
- Motion graphics, animation, sound design or advanced colour grading skills.
- Understanding of camera formats from Sony, Canon, Blackmagic Design, RED or ARRI workflows.
- Basic knowledge of photography, cinematography and production sound.
- Experience preparing captions, transcripts and accessible video versions.
